Successful Navigation of Regulatory Landscape Secures Business Deal

A publicly traded company was planning a strategic business acquisition. The deal, however, was contingent upon attaining a regulatory license within a few short months.

To mimic what regulators do, we took a big-picture approach. We reviewed the proposed sale arrangement and licensing applications for accuracy, errors and omissions. By doing so, we effectively avoided a prolonged period of downtime that would have caused significant financial loss and possibly scuttled the deal.

Delinquent Parent Goes into Hiding to Avoid Litigation

Challenge

A delinquent parent went to great lengths to conceal her new address and the identity of her current employer to avoid paying child support. It was also suspected that she, a healthcare professional, had taken a job across state lines to further shield her income from judicial order. After months without any new leads on her activities, a law firm called Integrity One Solutions to track her down.

Solution

Using cutting-edge investigative technology, we placed the woman’s car in a fast food parking lot in a neighboring state months earlier. Then, by methodically searching all healthcare facilities within a 15-mile radius of the restaurant, we successfully located the woman’s place and tenure of employment. Armed with this information, legal counsel was able to accurately calculate the amount of unpaid child support—$33,000.

Results

By combining technology with traditional investigative field work, such as surveillance and witness interviews, we helped the law firm recover child support and petition the court for more intensive oversight of payments.

Cost Overruns Tied to Embezzlement Scheme

Challenge

When a construction project went over budget by 50%, an extra $2 million, the investors wanted answers. Not satisfied with the general contractor’s nebulous explanations of expenses, over time they became increasingly convinced that something nefarious was occurring. Integrity One Solutions was called in to reconstruct the books and records, to identify and quantify questionable transactions, and to trace assets for potential financial remedy.

Solution

We conducted a meticulous review of financial records, time and materials invoices, and we analyzed building permits issued to the general contractor during the same time. We conclusively determined that materials ordered and delivered to the client’s work site were not only excessive, but also were likely diverted to satisfy the needs of other projects. The discrepancies pointed to an embezzlement scheme.

Results

This analysis served as the body of evidence used by the client to successfully pursue legal and financial remedies against the general contractor.

Undercover Investigation Exposes Employee Crime

Challenge

A large entertainment venue had concerns that a group of employees were engaging in unethical and possibly illegal activities within the workplace. If true, this jeopardized the safety and security of others and threatened to damage the organization’s reputation.

Solution

I1S recruited, trained and placed an agent-employee in the venue with the objective to fully integrate and assimilate himself/herself among co-workers, observe behaviors and identify nefarious actors, schemes and methods.

Results

The year-long investigation uncovered merchandise theft, drug and alcohol usage/sales, and falsification of time sheets. The client started seeing results early in the program, as actions of a serious nature were immediately reported up the chain of command and corroborated with internal electronic security measures. Management was able to take swift, corrective action.

Long-term benefits included a deeper understanding of the workplace culture, identification of at-risk employees, and allocation of resources to vulnerable areas.
